No matter where you are on your chronic pain journey, sometimes you need a little help. That’s where therapy comes in.
Because unfortunately, many of us dealing with constant aches, pains, and other health issues also get to contend with anxiety and/or depression.

1 in 5 US adults experienced mental illness in 2018.
Anxiety disorders (19.1%) and major depressive episodes (7.2%) are the most prevalent mental illnesses.
And if that was all there was to it, it would be pretty easy.
We’d use whatever resources were available to us and seek help for our mental health the same way we seek help for our physical issues.
But for many of us, one of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of getting the help we need is the stigma surrounding mental illness.
And believe me, I get it.
Before I sought help for depression, I was worried about it too.
I was scared people would think less of me or treat me differently because I had a mental illness.
I was scared that needing help meant that I was weak.
But you know what?
Seeking help for my depression was one of the most courageous things I’ve ever done.
By going to therapy I was able to see how my brain and my past experiences were joining forces to give me a distorted view of reality and trip me up.
With help from my therapist and meds, I was able to learn new ways of coping.
I learned that while depression was something I had, it was not me.
And over time, I learned to see myself more clearly. To see that I was capable of being happy.
Therapy was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
And deciding to go, deciding that I deserved a chance for a normal, happy life?
It was proof of how strong I really was.
There may have been people who looked down on me for seeking help, but if there were, they never said a word.
But I would have cut them out of my life without hesitation if they had, because no one’s opinion of me would ever have been worth my staying that miserable for even one minute longer.
So, please. If you need help, find some.
You deserve it.

Blah Therapy is a free service where you can vent to non-judgmental strangers.
7 Cups of Tea
At 7 Cups of Tea you can speak for free with volunteer listeners. But if a licensed mental health professional is more your speed, they can hook you up for $150/month.
iPrevail’s Classic Plan is $9.99 a month.
They offer a personalized cognitive behavioral therapy program upon completion of a quick mental health assessment. You also are assigned a peer coach, as well as given access to iPrevail’s online support community.
TalkSpace offers online therapy starting at $65 per week.
You start off by taking a mental health assessment which they then use to match you with a licensed therapist. You can message them whenever you want and can expect a response from them once or twice a day.

Online-Therapy.com starts at $31.96 per week and offers online therapy including daily therapist feedback.
This program is based on cognitive behavioral therapy and is divided into eight sections. Each section is presented in video, audio and text format and includes information and tools for working through the problems you are facing.
Additionally, you’ll have access to your therapist Monday-Friday, a daily journal and activity plan, and yoga and meditation videos.
As you can see, there a lot of options for getting help with your mental health.
