You’ve seen them on the internet. Maybe even in your own living room. Cute as all get-out. No worries.
You’ve envied them.
They are experts at living in the present moment. The chillest zen masters in the world.
But have you ever wondered what our cats would teach us about chronic pain management if we’d only give them the chance?
- Nap when you need to.
Running around all day can be exhausting. Don’t be afraid to take a break and rest every now and then.
- Play when you can.
Did something catch your attention? Chase after it.
- Stretching feels good.
Just got up? Stretch. Been sitting too long? S-T-R-E-T-C-H.
- Seek out sunshine.
Find it, sit in it, nap in it, roll around in it. Sunshine is the cure for whatever ails you.
- Refuse to see the bowl as half-empty.
Even if it is, in fact, empty. Fuss until somebody comes in and fills that sucker back up.
At least these are the things that my cats told me…
Give it a shot. Embrace your inner cat-dom.
You and your pain levels might be all the better for it if you do.
